A photograph has been widely circulated on social media platforms, claiming to depict President Anura Kumara Dissanayake dressed in traditional Tamil clothing, eating a meal, and taking part in a Pongal celebration during his recent visit to Jaffna. The image has attracted mixed reactions online, including praise, criticism, and political commentary.

FactSeeker’s investigation confirms that the image is not authentic and was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

During the President’s actual visit to Jaffna, he did not participate in any event wearing traditional Tamil attire. No such photographs were shared on the President’s official social media accounts, nor were any released by the President’s Media Division (PMD) or accredited media outlets.

A closer visual examination of the image reveals multiple inconsistencies in the President’s physical features, along with distinct visual artefacts commonly associated with AI-generated images. These include irregular facial details and unnatural textures.

In addition, the image was analysed using IMGDetector, a tool designed to identify AI-generated content. The analysis confirmed that the photo was created using AI technology.

Conclusion
The viral image claiming to show President Anura Kumara Dissanayake wearing traditional Tamil attire and participating in a Pongal celebration during his visit to Jaffna is fabricated. It is an AI-generated image and does not depict a real event.
