FactSeeker has identified a misleading image being shared online, particularly on the Instagram page of TamilMirror and several other homepages. The image is falsely claimed to depict a landslide on the Kotmale–Pundaluoya road.

Upon verification using Google Lens, it was discovered that the image does not correspond to any location in Sri Lanka. Instead, the photo is from a landslide on U.S.30 east of Astoria, Ore., USA, which occurred on November 30, 2022.

Actual location: highway near Astoria in northwestern Oregon. USA (2022)
