A claim widely circulated on social media suggesting that Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura is the daughter of Daya Lankapura, Chairman of the Right to Information Commission of Sri Lanka, has been found to be false, Factseeker confirms.

Factseeker has identified false claims circulating on social media alleging that Nilupuli Lankapura, the Colombo Fort Magistrate who ordered the remand of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, is the daughter of Daya Lankapura, Chairman of the Right to Information Commission of Sri Lanka.

Our verification found these claims to be untrue.

When contacted by Factseeker, Daya Lankapura clarified that his daughter is employed as a bank official and has no connection to Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura.

Accordingly, Factseeker confirms that the social media claim linking Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura to Daya Lankapura is false.
