Election Commissioner General addresses false claims regarding alleged release of postal vote results

Posts circulating on social media claiming to be the results of postal votes caught the attention of FactSeeker.

When inquired from Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake, he told FactSeeker that postal vote counting will only commence once the general election has been conducted on September 21.

He emphasised that these misleading posts are designed to deceive voters.

Mr. Ratnayake added that strict legal action will be taken against creators of such posts.

Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that any claims regarding the release of postal vote results are false.
