Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s power, had recently announced that unemployed graduates would be given jobs under his potential government.
“The Government of the National People’s Power is ready to carry out economic reforms and education reforms in such a way that no unemployed graduates are created in the future. Currently, there are about 33,000 vacancies of teachers. We are working to fill those vacancies”,
he told the media after meeting a group of unemployed graduates representing all provinces on 08th August.
FactSeeker drew attention to this statement.
“We will also recruit the vacancies in the Inland Income Tax Department and the Customs Department,” he said.

The National People’s Party’s manifesto for the 2024 presidential election titled “A rich country, a beautiful life” has allocated a portion titled “Jobs for graduates”.
It says,
- 20,000 graduates for teaching professions
- -12,000 graduates including 3000 Science, Technology, English, Mathematics (STEM) graduates and 9000 non-STEM graduates
- 3000 jobs in inland revenue, customs, foreign service and tourism sectors are mentioned in the document
