It has been reported by many as an incident in a temple in Sri Lanka.

This was shared on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok as well as x social media network. Factseeker found out whether this video, which is mentioned as ““ දෙයියොත් කොර ඒ පොල් ගහන ගැහිල්ලට”” is actually an incident in Sri Lanka. The people who have posted this have not mentioned any details in this regard. Further investigation by Factseeker regarding this video revealed that it happened in the Indian state of Kerala. Accordingly, it was confirmed that it was a video of a ritual performed for Lord Vettakkorumakan, a God believed in India.

Vettakkorumakan Pattu is a special ritual performed to please Lord Vettakkorumakan. Panthirairam Thengeyeru (Rhythmic breaking of 12000 coconuts continuously) is a special ceremony performed for Vettakkaran Patthu.

In this ritual around 12000 coconuts are broken one by one by a friend to the beat and beats of “Chenda Melam” (-a traditional instrument for invoking Gods and Goddesses).

Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that this is not an incident in Sri Lanka.
