Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe appointed in interim committee consisting of seven members effective yesterday (05) in order to carry out the operations of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board in an efficient manner.

Former Cricket Captain Arjuna Ranatunga has been appointed as the Chairman of this committee and the gazette notification in this regard was issued yesterday.

This news was rapidly shared on mainstream websites and social media networks since this morning (06).

Meanwhile, it was mentioned on the websites that neither the President nor the Cabinet had been informed about the appointment of this committee by Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

Further, the “Satiya” website published a news article mentioning that “the committee which was appointed by Minister Roshan has suspended by the order of the President”.

In addition to that, FactSeeker contacted Presidential Media Director General Dhanushka Ramanayake in this regard. He stated that the committee appointed by the Minister has been announced through a gazette notice, so it should be suspended through a gazette notice too.

Further Dhanushka Ramanayake pointed out that President Ranil Wickramasinghe has informed all ministers to participate in the cabinet meeting to be held this afternoon.

Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that the news that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has suspended the interim committee appointed by Minister Roshan Ranasinghe is a misleading news.
