A viral post circulating on social media has falsely claimed that world-famous actor Jackie Chan has died in the recent Beijing floods. FactSeeker has closely monitored and investigated these claims and can confirm that they are entirely fabricated.

The false claim states, “Sad news: 30 people died in a massive flood in Beijing 15 minutes ago. What’s even more heartbreaking is that one of them was the popular 2016 Oscar winner Jackie Chan.” This post has been widely shared across various platforms, misleading thousands of users.

Upon investigation, it was confirmed that Beijing did indeed experience severe flooding between July 23 and July 29, 2025, following record-breaking rainfall. According to credible news sources, at least 30 people lost their lives during this natural disaster. However, there is no reliable evidence or official confirmation suggesting that Jackie Chan was among the victims.

Further scrutiny reveals that Jackie Chan is alive and actively participating in public events and film projects. Most notably, he is scheduled to appear at the prestigious 78th Locarno Film Festival on August 9, 2025, where he will be honoured with the Pardo alla Carriera (Career Achievement Award). In addition to receiving this lifetime achievement honour, he will also present and discuss two of his iconic films, Police Story and Project A, in front of a live audience. These events have been officially announced by the Locarno Festival organizers.

FactSeeker also examined the images attached to the viral posts, which purported to show Jackie Chan in the midst of the flood or injured. Upon analysis, it was confirmed that the visuals were entirely AI-generated. These artificially created images were designed to mimic real photographs but lacked authenticity and were found to be misleading digital fabrications.

In light of these findings, FactSeeker strongly asserts that the claim of Jackie Chan’s death is false. FactSeeker urges the public to verify the accuracy of information before sharing it and to rely on credible news sources and official statements.
