Although at first glance this seemed to be shared for entertainment purposes, observations of comments suggest that some users believe it to be a true event.

As a result, FactSeeker looked into the authenticity of this photo, which revealed that the image was AI-generated.

Accordingly, FactSeeker analyzed data about the oldest people in the world. According to a CNN website article published in May 2025, the oldest currently living person in the world is British national Ethel Caterham, who is 115 years and 252 days old. She is also noted in Guinness World Records as the last surviving British person born before 1913.

As reported in the BBC’s science magazine Science Focus, as of December 2024, the oldest living person was Tomiko Itooka of Japan. She was 116 years old at the time, which is significantly higher than the average human life expectancy, according to the magazine.

Historically, the oldest verified person in the world is considered to be Jeanne Louise Calment, a French woman who lived to be 122 years and 164 days old. She was born on February 21, 1875, and passed away on August 4, 1997, at the age of 122.
