An aircraft belonging to Air India met with an accident yesterday (12) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. According to international media reports, the death toll from this tragic incident has exceeded 290.

In this context, FactSeeker noticed that several videos claiming to have been recorded by passengers on board before the crash are being widely shared on social media platforms.

One such video is being circulated with the title “Plane crash in Gujarat… shocking footage captured by passengers,” while another video is being shared with the title “Final moments of the passengers.”

As these videos were being widely shared, FactSeeker investigated their authenticity.

Upon examining the video shared with the title “Plane crash in Gujarat… shocking footage captured by passengers” using Google Lens, it was revealed that this footage is actually related to a different plane crash that occurred in 2023. Specifically, it was confirmed to be the Facebook live video broadcast by a passenger aboard the aircraft that crashed in Pokhara, Nepal, on January 15, 2023. Related social media posts and news reports on this incident further validated this finding.

Moreover, when analyzing the video shared under the title “Final moments of the passengers,” it was found to be linked to a separate incident that took place in Pakistan.

Specifically, this video was recorded by a passenger on board a flight from Karachi to Lahore on May 24 this year, when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence caused by a storm. News reports confirm that despite the intense turbulence, the flight landed safely without any casualties.

Based on the available evidence, it has been confirmed that the first video was recorded during the 2023 plane crash in Pokhara, Nepal, and the second video was recorded during a turbulent flight from Karachi to Lahore in May 2025.

Therefore, FactSeeker confirms that these videos being shared as footage recorded by passengers prior to the recent Ahmedabad plane crash are unrelated to the current incident in Ahmedabad.
