Further, the news mentioned that government funds have been misused for political programs. Fact Seeker intended to investigate the misuse of government funds and the Colombo Municipal Council campaign posts for political purposes.

Accordingly, when asked about this Colombo Municipal Commissioner Bhadrani Jayawardene, stated that since the Municipal Council has 800 flag poles, if any political party or organization requests them on a rental basis, the Municipal Council will provide them after charging the appropriate amount.

Mrs. Bhadrani Jayawardena also mentioned that flagpoles were also given to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna for the receipt of Rs. 47840 which was issued by the Department of Sports and Recreation of Colombo Municipal which is located in Maradana.
