An AI-created video purporting to be of a Sri Lankan having the appearance of MGR

Fact Seeker observed a video shared on social media in which the late Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran, a former chief minister of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and an Indian actor known by the initials MGR, appears.

The name of the person appearing in this video is Rasarnadet and it was mentioned in posts on social media that he looks like MGR who is from Sri Lanka. Further Fact Seeker observed that this video has been shared on x site and tiktok.

The video was discovered to have been uploaded to Tik Tok by multiple users after Fact Seeker searched for it on Google Reverse. Several other similar videos were also observed there.

When Fact Seeker investigated the authenticity of these videos, it was confirmed that these videos were created using (AI) technology (Artificial Intelligence). When Fact Seeker asked Praveen Kalaich Selvana, founder of savethem India Foundation and a researcher in AI technology, he confirmed that the videos were created using AI technology.
