A photo circulating on social media claims to show Sri Lankan MP Namal Rajapaksa meeting King Charles III. However, an investigation by factseeker confirms that the widely shared image has been digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence and does not represent an authentic photograph.

The manipulated image appears to depict Namal Rajapaksa shaking hands with Charles III in front of a historic building. Social media users have shared varying interpretations and opinions about the image, presenting it as a genuine moment from an official visit. However, a review of credible sources shows that the viral version does not match the original photograph taken during the visit.

The authentic image from the meeting was published by Daily Mirror, clearly showing the actual setting and composition of the encounter (see: https://www.dailymirror.lk/print/caption-story/Namal-meets-Lord-Michael-Naseby/110-333851). The original photograph does not match the altered version currently circulating online.

In addition, Namal Rajapaksa’s official campaign media page has publicly clarified that the viral image is fake and was generated using artificial intelligence, dismissing it as misinformation (see the statement here: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1352820890209165&id=100064438011882&post_id=100064438011882_1352820890209165&rdid=85yJlAYql6gU8wls#).

Based on these findings, factseeker concludes that the viral photograph has been artificially generated and falsely presented as an authentic image. Therefore, the claim that the circulating image is a genuine photograph of the meeting is false.
