A photo circulating widely on social media falsely claims that Iran shot down a US B-2 Stealth bomber following airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites. The image has gone viral and sparked debate across various international platforms. However, upon verification, FactSeeker has determined that the photo and the accompanying claim is false.
Factseeker closely analyzed the viral image and found several discrepancies. While the aircraft in the photo bears a resemblance to the US B-2 Spirit Stealth bomber, there are clear differences upon closer inspection.
Notably, the aircraft in the image appears smaller than the size of the nearby “pilots,” which is not consistent with the actual scale of a B-2 bomber.
Additionally, FactSeeker used Google’s AI image detection tool to assess the authenticity of the photo. The analysis concluded that there is a 70% likelihood that the image was generated using artificial intelligence.
In contrast to the false claim, the United States Air Force released a verified video showing the B-2 bombers returning safely to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri after completing their mission. This video can be viewed via NewsX, which also reported that the aircraft involved in the strikes returned without incident.

Furthermore, no official statement has been released by the Iranian government claiming the downing of any US aircraft.
Based on this evidence, FactSeeker confirms that the viral image claiming a US B-2 Stealth bomber was shot down in Iran is fabricated and AI-generated. This is yet another example of how misleading visuals created with emerging technologies can fuel disinformation and escalate geopolitical tensions.
