Sri Lanka women’s cricket team’s premier fast bowler Udeshika Prabodhini has been talked about on social media stating that she is financially vulnerable because she was traveling home on the bus after winning the Asia Cup.

The factseeker took steps to find out the veracity of the matter as there has been a lot of talk about the members of the women’s cricket team after Sri Lanka won the Asian women’s cricket match.

Was this reported in the mainstream media? Factseeker investigated the matter, and the island newspaper also reported on this on Sunday, August 04. The main headline was “Udeshika, who played cricket and won the cup and was taking the public bus home”, and a sub-headline was “father maintained the whole family by crushing cinnamon”.

A surprise party was organized to welcome Her in the native village of Udeshika Prabodhini. We contacted Chandika Dinesh, a close friend of Udeshika’s family, who organized it. He said, “we call her sister Suddi. This surprise was my idea, and it was organized by me and the youth of Diyapitigallana. There are two vehicles at Udeshika’s house. The information is not true. She doesn’t drive. So, if the car was sent to her home driven by her younger brother, she would not have liked it. So, we asked her to travel by the highway bus. “Poverty is one thing, simplicity is another,” said Chandika Dinesh. He said that the surprise party was held very successfully, and the event was posted on social media and that the information about Udeshika Prabodhini was false.

Accordingly, factseeker confirms that the information circulating on social media about Sri Lanka women’s fast bowler Udeshika Prabodhani being poor is not true.
