n this video, some university students were singing a Tamil song and it was shared that mentioning the Jaffna Campus. A request was made to FactSeekr to find out if this was really an event held at the University of Jaffna. So FactSeekr set out to find out about it.

If you look carefully at the background of this video, it does not resemble the buildings of the University of Jaffna, and when you pay attention to the logo on it, it seems to be similar to the logo of the SLIIT Institute in Malabe.

When FactSeekr asked the student activists of Jaffna University if this kind of incident happened during the Thai Pongal celebration at Jaffna University, they said that no such thing happened.

Later, when asked about this from Malabe SLIIT Institute, they said that during the Thai Pongal festival, the students of their university came dressed in Tamil national costumes and sang Tamil songs and they explained that a video showing a part of it is being shared on social media.

That video is here – https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=sliit.fcmu&set=a.748337687340147

Accordingly, Factseekr confirms that this is not a video of Jaffna University but a photo taken at Malabe SLIIT University.
