In response to a request for verification, FactSeeker conducted an investigation. It was confirmed that the website where this news was published is not the official Daily Mirror site. Additionally, the logo used on the site is an outdated version of the Daily Mirror logo.

A review of the official Daily Mirror website found no such news. FactSeeker also contacted a Daily Mirror website administrator, who confirmed the existence of a fake site designed to resemble the official Daily Mirror page. The administrator further stated that the public had been warned multiple times about such fraudulent websites.

Therefore, FactSeeker has verified that the news item claiming Minister Vijitha Herath announced, “Sri Lankans will start receiving income from taxes,” is false.
