The management of the temple said that upon reviewing CCTV footage, they had requested the temple’s Police to conduct an inquiry.

The management said that legal action would be taken provided the images violated photography restrictions or with the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

The OIC of the temple’s police C. I. Senadheera told FactSeeker that brides dressed in traditional Kandiyan clothing (with seven necklaces) is traditionally unethical.

OIC Senadheera further said that the bride was dressed decently and an inquiry as to whether the images were taken in line with photography restrictions of the temple.

Although social media alleges that the images had been taken for commercial purposes, the OIC of the temple confirmed that it was not.

He further said that the inquiry has been handed over to the Kandy Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

IOC Thilak Samaranayake of the Kandy CID said that infestations are underway, and the couple would be summoned to the CID if necessary.

The images were captured feature actor Dewnaka Perera and Hashini Wedanda. The photographer Lakmal Sinharage had issued a statement in his Facebook page.
