FactSeeker observed a series of images circulating on social media, stating that Pididuwe Siridhamma Thero also known as Siri Samantha Bhadra Thero was offered Pirikara from world-renowned brands such as FENDI and Louis Vuitton, on the Thero's birthday.

The posts carried hashtags such as #සම්මාBranded #මහාLouisVuittonපිංකම etc, and FactSeeker stepped in to investigate the said claim.
A google reversed image search and an article published on Daily Mirror revealed that the images were originally posted in 2019. Additionally, popular singer Iraj Weeraratne, on his Facebook account
Further investigations found a video of a discussion on the incident dated 26 February 2019 titled “Samantha Bhadra Thero with Iraj – The True Story of the 2 Crore Pirikara”.
The video featured Samantha Bhadra Thero who mentions that he bought these LouisVuitton and FENDI bags from a fair in China, and FactSeeker was able to identify that the rest of the accessories in it were not products of Louis Vuitton or FENDI.
Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that the images of Samantha Bhadra Thero’s Pirikara were taken in 2019, and is circulating on social media again this year 2024.
