On the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad’s (Nabi) birthday, a notice about a lottery draw in Daraz which is a famous online trading company, was circulated through social media.
Due to the fact that kind of raffles mislead people and are constantly shared through social media, Factseeker observed to find out about the authenticity of this.

According to a request received from the Factseeker WhatsApp group to check about this Daraz notice, Factseeker tried to find out about its authenticity.

When Factseeker contacted the Customer Service Department of Daraz, they said that they do not notice their advertisements through social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, or Telegram except on the official website of Daraz.

Additionally, Daraz has released a statement regarding this notice and added that it has been observed that specific people and groups are taking part in fraudulent activities by misrepresenting members of their organization.

It was also stated in the announcement that the company deals with sellers, buyers, employees, and the wider community only through its official website.

Daraz Institute further stated that if there is information about any fake persons or groups, report it to the Sri Lanka Police and the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Preparedness Team (CERT).
Accordingly, Factseeker confirms that the notice published on social media about a lottery draw by Daraz is a misleading and false notice.
