In recent days, social media users have been sharing a variety of images and postings claiming that the National People’s Party had provided dry rations and rice.

Is this true? According to a request received by Fact Seeker to investigate, we investigated the truth and falsity of this.

A picture was taken during a 2020 initiative called ” රතු තරුව ” by Janatha Vimukti Peramuna, which aimed to supply dry food supplies to low-income families. It was revealed that the photograph was taken at Nikaveratiya Rasnayakapura during the event.

Accordingly, on those days, it was also shared on the Janata Vimukti Peramuna’s official social media channels.

When asked if the National People’s Power’s media section had provided rice and dry rations for Women’s Day (2024) in association with Janata Vimukthi Peramuna, or the NPP, they replied that they had not.

As a result, Fact Seeker verifies that the image being circulated on social media is, in fact, a 2020 snapshot that was taken in the same year.
