During the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination on September 15, 2024, three questions from the paper were leaked, prompting parents to file a petition. In response, a court order was issued on November 18, preventing the release of the exam results until further notice. This was reported by major media outlets and social media platforms.

Commissioner General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara told FactSeeker that the evaluation of answer scripts had been suspended in accordance with the court order.

Additionally, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education Vishaka Abeyratne confirmed that the results would not be released as per the court’s directive. She also mentioned that although there are plans to make changes in the education sector, no decision has been made to cancel the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination next year.

Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that claims circulating on social media about the cancellation of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination from next year are false.
