After the death of State Minister Sanath Nishantha in an accident yesterday morning (25), various news stories were shared through social media.

A photo was also shared on social media stating that the people who were happy with the death of Mr. Sanath Nishantha were happily celebrating by cooking milk rice on the streets.

This photo, which was mentioned as “The current situation in Borella”, was circulated on the Facebook page, showing that the people of Borella are happy and celebrate happiness by cooking milk rice due to the death of Mr. Sanath Nishantha.

Further many people have expressed their views on this, appreciating that it is true that milk rice is cooked in Borella.

Therefore, we inquired in this regard and searched using Google Reverse Image revealed that this photo was taken in 2002.

Accordingly, this photo was taken when the people of Panchikawatta cooked milk rice on the streets, who were happy at the announcement of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s resignation from the post of Prime Minister in 2022.

Therefore, Fact Seeker confirms that the photo shared on social media is not a photo taken after the death of Mr. Sanath Nishantha.
