False news suggesting that a motorcycle rally has been organized as a protest against the removal of a commemorative monument

False news is spreading on social media and on websites that more than 100 youths from Batticaloa have left for Jaffna on motorbikes to support the protest in Jaffna against the removal of the Mullivaikkal memorial erected at the Jaffna University premises.

A technical investigation into the photo revealed that the photos were released in 2007 by “India Bull Riders”, an Indian motorcycle association.

No such incident has been reported from the Batticaloa or Jaffna districts so far.
