A news that the member of the National People’s Power, former Member of Parliament Mr. Sunil Hadunneththi has been involved in a car accident was being shared rapidly through social media.

A news mentioning that “Sunil Hadunnetthi in a car accident near the Baddegama entrance of the Southern Expressway and Information about being drunk.”, was published by Sirasa News First on 20.02.2024. Further many people have accepted and shared it as true.

Did News First publish such a story?

Since this was very similar to a News First story, Fact Seeker checked the News First official Facebook page and website to find out if such a story has been published by News First (Sirasa Media Network).  However such a story was not found that published on February 20, 2024.

And when Fact Seeker inquired about this from the news department, they mentioned that no such news was published.

In this regard, Sunil Hadunneththi said that he had not been involved in such an accident, he was fine and the news was completely false. Accordingly, Fact Seeker confirms that the news shared on social media stating that Sunil Hadunneththi was in a car accident is false.
