In response, Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, along with medical associations, has urged all print and electronic media to refrain from publishing any personal information or photographs of the victim.

FactSeeker has observed that news related to the incident is being circulated on social media with a photo of a female doctor in a page design resembling the Hiru Gossip Facebook page. Upon investigation, it was found that the image was originally shared by an account named Prakashi Jayasekara.

Further verification revealed that the individual in the circulated photo is Dr. Priya, who has also addressed the issue in a post on her official Facebook page. Many others have expressed their dissatisfaction over the misuse of her image on social media.

Additionally, a search of Hiru Gossip’s official Facebook page found no such post matching the viral content. However, a similar post was shared by another account.

Therefore, FactSeeker confirms that the content being spread on social media—combining Dr. Priya’s image with news falsely attributed to Hiru Gossip—is manipulated and misleading.
