A video showing former Member of Parliament (MP) Dilan Perera falling on a bridge is circulating on social media.

Upon investigation, FactSeeker noted that the incident took place on October 18, 2021, when he was inspecting the dilapidated Halaba Steel Bridge built at one of the widest points of Uma Oya connecting Uva Paranagama and Hali-Ela.

Further observation noted news reports that had also circulated on social media and television channels.

The comments in the videos indecate that that the incident has been misrepresented as a recent event.

Accordingly, FactSeeker confirms that the incident of former MP Dilan Perera falling from a bridge is not a recent occurrence.
